Jason Kottke posted a link to Maciej Cegłowski's oil paintings a few hours ago. They're presented as works-in-progress, each painting session documented, photographed, and presented chronologically. It's possible to follow the progress of an image as it develops from a sketch to a completed work. They reminded me strongly of a TVP-1 special I once saw on the work of another painter, Zdzisław Beksiński. Beksiński's ominous works change significantly as he paints them, each layer of oil paint modifying the picture and sometimes completely changing color, subject and composition.
I wanted very much to be able to scrub quickly through Maciej's pictures, watching the progress without all the intervening HTML cruftola. I had to satisfy myself with newspaper front pages from the past month instead.
